With a rich history built over generations
CUICAN Jewelry is the story of one family, three generations, and a lasting connection to jadeite. It began with a great-uncle who brought jadeite rough from Myanmar to Shanghai, continued with a father who built trust through knowledge and integrity, and enters a new chapter through a daughter reimagining the tradition for today. Across generations, the purpose remains the same: to honor the stone, the people behind it, and the stories it carries.

Our Story
Where It All Began
THE FIRST GENERATION · COURAGE
Where the Journey Began
In the 1990s, the founder’s great-uncle was the only university student from his village. He travelled to Myanmar to teach Chinese, where friends introduced him to jadeite rough and the possibilities it held. Together with the founder’s father, he began bringing stones through Yunnan to Shanghai, laying the foundation of the family’s jadeite journey. His birthday, July 14, is commemorated through the number “714,” featured in CUICAN Jewelry’s product brochures as a symbol of courage, roots, and renewal.
THE SECOND GENERATION · TRUST
Trust, Earned Over Time
The founder’s father learned the trade in Shanghai’s early-morning jade and antique markets, carrying small pieces to the City God Temple market and earning trust one conversation at a time. A chance encounter at Kunming Airport—followed by patience, expertise, and years of keeping his word—grew into a lasting partnership. His story shaped the family’s belief that the value of jadeite lies not only in the stone, but also in the person standing behind it.
THE THIRD GENERATION · RENEWAL
Jadeite, Reimagined
Having grown up among jadeite markets, family shops, and stories of stones that had travelled far, the founder inherited both a heritage and a responsibility. When the pandemic disrupted the family’s traditional business in 2020, she founded CUICAN Jewelry to give that heritage a contemporary voice. Her vision is to make jadeite feel personal, wearable, and relevant—something a new generation can choose, love, and one day pass on.
